Refractory Bricks

Rfractory Bricks, also known as Fire Bricks or Insulating Fire Bricks, is a special type of bricks made of materials like Aluminium Oxide, Chromium Oxide etc, used for fireproof, melting or insulation in high temperature or heat environment. Different companies manufacture various styles, shapes and materials, while there are standard size just like normal brikcs. Refractory brick is to withsand high temperature without failing. It is also designed to have low heat conductivity to make the enrionment safer and better for operations. Furthermore, refractory brick can withstand impact from objects inside a high heat environment, and it can contain minor explosions which may occur during the heating process. It may be dense or porous, depending on the design and the intended utility. But refractory bricks still will fail. It may break down, flake or crack as time passes by.

During manufacturing of refractory bricks made of Brown Fused Alumina, the important think is that BFA used should have low magnetic and SiO2 contents which may cause crack, spots, corrosion etc. Common requirement of SiO2 content on Brown Fused Alumina is 1.5%max, some may require 1%max or 1.2%max. Refractory bricks made of high content of Brown and White Fused Alumina is usually called “High Alumina Brick”

Common Materials of Refractory Bricks: Brown Fused Alumina, White Fused Alumina, Silicon Carbide, Silica, Magnesite, Chromium Oxide etc or mix of these materials.
Where Refractory Bricks are used: Linning Furnaces, Fireboxes, Kilns, Fireplaces, Furnaces, Forges,Ovens
